Exit Glacier

Even though the front desk at our hotel said the Exit Glacier trail was closed our guide said, "Let's see how it is."

Exit Glacier Nature Center

The nature center was closed.

Exit Glacier trails

We really should have read this sign better before we decided to make the hike.

The start of the hike was fine. The trail was clear.

Our guide was a hunter. He stopped to show us moose poop.

He even, grossly, picked it up to show us how he knew how old it was. Yuck!

Then the trail got a little snowy. Some people turned back.

The snow started to get deeper and the trail more rugged. But we'd already come a ways and, since we hadn't red the sign that said the hike was 1-2 hours round trip, we kept going.

These signs mark where the edge of the glacier was in that year. In 1961 we would have only had to go this far to see the glacier. We'd only been hiking for about 20 minutes.
