Our airboat captain! |
Bill was sitting on the end. He had to be careful of the sawgrass, it was sharp! |
Bird! |
Our captain explained to us that the everglades isn't a swamp. It's a very slow-moving river. |
A close-up of a blade of sawgrass. You can see how it's covered in sharp spines.s |
We spotted an alligator! |
We were very happy. It was so cold and our tour was almost over. We were pretty sure we wouldn't see one. |
All of the boats rushed over to see it. |
It was up for a few minutes and then it was gone. Our airboat ride ended on a highlight! |
Next we headed to their wildlife exhibit areas. |
I'm not sure if this black vulture was part of their animal display or if it was just hanging around. |
Many of the animals they had, like this raccoon, started out as pets that became too hard to handle by their owners. |
