We started Day 5 out by seeing the World's Largest Chest of Drawers. I like the socks poking out of the drawer. You can get a sense of scale by looking at the street lights. |
Chris was nice enough to come with us for the day.
It was killing Chris that we weren't in the picture of the chest of drawers so she made us pose byt the World's Largest Duncan Phyfe Chair.
The plaque under the chair. |
Then we headed to the border of North and South Carolina to South of the Border. If you looked up "cheesy giant gift shop city" in the dictionary, there would be a piture of this place there. We bought a Rubik's Cube snake, a snow globe and some back scratchers. We opted not to eat dinner there :-) |

We went back to Chris' house for the night. |
We started out Day 6 by having some authentic East-coast barbecue. It was good. |
We said bye to Chris and stopped by the grocery store to restock our fridge. |
We saw a phenomenal amount of billboards for this place but the one that made us HAVE to stop was the one that said, "Cut Rate Undies". We had to see this place. They had more cigarettes than I've ever seen in one place in my life. They sold make-up, perfume, cigars, clothes, food, really anything you can imagine. |
On to South Carolina again. This is called The Peachoid. It's in Gaffney, South Carolina. |
We stayed in Greenville, SC. Bill said he wanted to stay in a suite. So, what did we do? Drove right by the Embassy Suites and stayed here. Not in a suite. The Embassy Suites saga continues later..... |
