Two cells
It looked to us like our room was made of two cells.
Thick walls
You can see at the window how thick the walls are! It was too dark to take photos outside but the security wall was still outside too.
Hotel Katajanokka
We stayed at the Hotel Katajanokka in Helsinki. It used to be a prison and they've converted it in to a hotel.
Helsinki!
Flying in to Helsinki, our first taste of darkness in the afternoon. This photo was taken at 2:16 pm.
Rainy
Cold and rainy in London.
Off to Helsinki!
For some reason we didn't take pictures when we left home. After switching terminals at Heathrow, which took a long time, we're boarding the plane to Helsinki!
Small test
I tried a test with some jute rope and it didn't work very well. We bought this cotton rope at the last minute and it seemed to do the trick. I had no idea how to estimate the water so I guessed and crossed my fingers.
Watering system
We were going to be gone for 3 weeks with no one in the house. This was the best way I could find to water the plants.
Laundry!!
Our laundry is back!
Bill the photographer
Bill is always lagging way behind the tour group because he's taking so many pictures. I try to make sure we don't leave him behind!
Port
Taking some photos as we're pulling in to port.
Cristiano
We didn't know anything about Madeira except people on the ship told us that soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo was born here. One of the things to buy, besides the wine, was his jersey.
Good morning!
Day 12! These girls were SO cute! We already knew the girl on the left from the steakhouse. They were going to every table and saying, "GOOD MORNING! Special rolls!" They were good!
Bird
We hada long-ish discussion about this one...duckling or bird?
Our painting!
After dinner we had an appointment with the art people onboard. We went to the auction for fun and we ended up winning, not bidding but we won, a painting like, for free. This is the painting. It's by Jean Claude Picot. He uses kind of atypical colors. For instance, we saw another painting of his where we saw a red field of wheat.
Green tea dessert
It looks awful but the green tea cake and ice cream was really yummy!
Teppanyaki
We went to the Japanese hibachi grill, Teppanyaki, for dinner!
Didn't win
Sadly, we didn't win much.
Casino!
We had a little time before our dinner reservation so we hit the casino!
