Aurora schedule

Basically the night schedule, posted in the afternoons. We have the Aurora Camp with Johnny at 8 pm.

The bar

After an hour we went to the bar to see if we could find some people. Bill went inside and asked. Finally someone even came outside to smoke. He told me that they spotted a brief aurora at the camp, not here, so they set off the alarm, just in case. We didn't stay out much longer. It was disappointing. Oh well. We had time and now we knew how it worked.

No one around

We thought it was weird that we didn't see anyone else outside, even after a half hour, not one other person. Still no aurora.

We didn't see anything but we were patient. Bill calibrated his camera and we kept looking.

Clear night

It was a very clear night. You can see how bright the moon is shining. The construction on the left is an expansion of the main lodge.

Aurora alarm

We were watching a movie on the iPad, maybe going to sleep and the aurora alarm we paid for went off. We leaped out of bed and put on all of our layers as quickly as we could, grabbed the camera and ran out of the cabin! We did well. We were outside about 10 minutes after the alarm went off.

Kirakka!

We really liked this name. We even thought about naming our next dog "Kirakka" but when it came down to it we thought maybe it was a bit harsh for our teeny puppy. Maybe if we get a bigger dog.

Close to the lodge

We were happy we were so close to the lodge. For dinner we could walk over there without having to put on so many layers.

We had some nice windows to look out and see if there was an aurora happening before we threw on all of our layers of clothing!

Our room!

We had a loft so, technically, another couple could have stayed with us if we were travelling in a group. We were one of four rooms in a 4-plex log cabin.

At Nellim!

We made it to Nellim Wilderness Lodge! It was around lunch time, as you can see. This is the main lodge as well as the dining room. They gave us a cup of glögi.. It was really good! We got all checked in and ate lunch!
