Transatlantic Cruise

We departed the Port of Miami on April 19th for a 12-day Transatlantic cruise aboard the Norwegian Epic. There was one stop on Day 9 at Funchal, Madeira before the cruise ended in Barcelona, Spain.

The bridge

We hadn't seen anyone on the side bridge since we left Funchal but someone had to be in there. They pulled some shades down.

Pizza!

Since we spent most of the trip sleeping late and doing nothing, we were tired after waking up early and going on our tour so we stayed in and ordered pizza for dinner!

Desertas Islands

After we left Funchal we sat in the atrium a bit and then back to the room. We sat out on the balcony and saw the Desertas Islands.

Atrium nap

We decided to sit in the atrium and watch people come in from their tours. It was entertaining. We even saw someone try to run in with liquor past security! Bill took a nap.

Cloudy

We were glad we got back to the ship when we did. When we got on deck, dark clouds started rolling in.

Back to the ship

We waited in line, not for a long time but for a bit and then they opened up the other entrance. Of course it was right when we past where that was us that could have just walked right on in. Oh well.

Dinner

We ate dinner at La Cucina, the Italian restaurant. They gave us a really good table by the window. We could see the bow of the ship and the clouds lit by the sunset.

Dora again

After we'd been sitting there about a half hour, Dora the Explorer and DIego came out again for a meet and greet. I know they have other Nickelodeon characters. We keep missing them.
