Bill the photographer
Bill is always lagging way behind the tour group because he's taking so many pictures. I try to make sure we don't leave him behind!

Cool walkway
The stonework looked like it was so much work! I think straight was the wicker baskets and up was the church.

Old steps
Very shallow, old steps.

Gizelle
Our tour guide, Gizelle, was hilarious! She made everyone be quiet on the bus, like she was our mom. If anyone was talking, she stopped giving the tour and said if we'd rather talk then she'll be quiet. Best tour guide ever!

Toboggan, cable car or church
There were many paths from this market. You could go across to the cable cars, over to the wicker toboggans or up to the church. We were going up!

Ginger losenges
Some of the people on our tour, including Bill and I, were sick. Our guide recommended ginger candies they were selling on one of the tables, they were good for sore throats. We bought some. They really helped! We ate them for the next several days.

Shopping
A little Christmas shopping!

Scenic Madeira
Today's tour is called "Scenic Madeira." Our first stop is a church on top of the mountain. We walked past this pretty bridge when we got off the bus.

Casablanca
Before we got to the ship we drove through Casablanca and took a little tour in the dark.

Open late
I'm sure the place closed as soon as we left. It wasn't a gas station. They only stopped for us to shop.

Fossils
There was a store selling "fossils" there. Curiously, all the fossils looked almost exactly alike. We think they were made of concrete. One guy said he would trade a big "fossil" for Bill's sunglasses. I told him he should have taken the deal. Bill didn't want to carry it.

Hanging meat
There was even hanging meat in one of the shops.

Cat!
We stopped at an out-of-the-way set of shops on the way back. We think another kickback for our tour guide. We got some drinks and, of course, all the shops were open. There were a bunch of cats in the snack shop.
