Apostles
At the top of the columns you can see they had the names of the Apostles. In this photo there's "Mateu" (Matthew) and "Marc" (Mark).
Even got Bill in there while he was taking a picture!

In addition to the large ceiling tiles that resemble flowers, there are small flowers that look like they're in vases above and to the left of the rose window.

You can see how big the columns are with the people standing around. The church is huge!

Even though it was rainy outside there was still enough light to stream in through the beautiful stained glass windows.

Gaudi designed the columns to look like trees with branches.
The inside was just incredible, beyond words.

This façade was the first to be completed (1894-1930) and depicts scenes the birth of Jesus Christ and scenes from His life. You can see the style is way different than the Passion side, not as severe.
This side is very harsh and angular. It depicts Jesus' last night before the crucifixion, the crucifixion and the ascension. You can see part of it to the right was under construction.

Constuction started in 1882 and has continued since then. It was interrupted for the SPanish Civil War and relies in private donations. It has progressed very slowly. I did read that they have begun the final phase of construstion. Hopefully finishing in 2030 or 2032.
First stop, buy a ticket! Like many high-profile churches, it's not free. The money does go to finishing the church.
Sooo excited to see the Sagrada Familia in person!
