Day 9
Funchal Madeira! Our tour took us to Camara de Lobos, a small fishing village made famous by Winston Churchill and then we were off to Cabo Girao, the highest sea cliff in Europe and the second highest in the world.
-
Beautiful tree
Not sure what kind of tree this is but it's beautiful!
-
Cute dog
A cute dog on our way out of Camara de Lobos. I think he stays there because people feed him on the way in and out of the village.
-
One last shot
One last shot before getting on the bus.
-
Neat plants
-
Panoramic Camara de Lobos
Even thought the description of the tour said we were supposed to go to Cabo Girao next we made a stop to see Camara de Lobos from…
-
Overhead
That's where we were. You can even see the small boats in the water and the lighthouse.
-
Church on the water
-
Cliff houses
-
Cool
-
Pico da Cruz
Where we stopped was called "Pico da Cruz" and this is why, the giant cross at the top of the peak.
-
Beautiful view
The views were beautiful from Pico da Cruz. We were really glad we stopped there!
-
More Pico da Cruz
-
Cool clouds
-
Cross with ocean
I couldn't decide which picture of the cross I liked better, with the city behind it or the ocean, so I included both.
-
Next stop
Our next stop is Cabo Girao, the highest sea cliff in Europe and the second highest in the world.
-
Butterfly bush
They had pretty flowers on the way in.
-
580 Meters
It says in several languages, "You are standing 580 meters above sea level."
-
Really far
580 meters is 1902.89 feet. It was WAY down there!
-
See-through floor
The platform was plexiglass. You can see it had little white dots on it. I think the clear glass was too much for some people.
-
Beautiful!
Again, the views were beautiful!
